The Best Magic Tricks

To Build Your Confidence to Perform Magic

People often ask me what are the best magic tricks I know. The answer is usually the same: the easy ones. You see the easy magic tricks are usually the ones that let you concentrate more on performing than worrying about doing the'hard moves'.

This trick, called 'The Trick That makes Sense', is a fantastic opening trick.

  • It's quick
  • It has a beginning, a middle and an end ... it's a story
  • It is VERY easy to do
  • It makes people smile and feel good

That last bit is the most important. You see if you can get people to feel happy and relaxed about your magic they are going to give you a much better response. That's why doing a quick little routine like this first is a good thing. They see that for a small amount of their time that they will give you by watching, they will get something in return.

Many people when they first start out doing magic tricks make the mistake of doing the really hard awesome stuff straight up. This is like hitting some over the head with a brick. Too much too soon. Tease your audience first, flash your cheeky smile and get them to warm up to you.

Don't overlook this trick becuase of how easy it is. That would be a mistake. If you are new to magic tricks this is just the sort of thing you need to help build your confidence.

Then look out for some of the other tricks in Julian's Magician School that I suggest as middles and closers. Start with this one, follow with a longer middle trick then end with a fun closer and you have just performed your first magic show.
