Aug 31, 2010, New tricks at Julian's Magician School

Here are two brand new tricks that are really EASY to do but really punch above their weight.

Trick 11 is called "The Trick That Makes Sense" and is a terrific one to open your close up magic show with.

Trick 12 is called "The Fantastic Mr Plastic" and for my money is one of the most CHARMING magic tricks around that is done with something you see all the time but never this way.

It's also the PERFECT closer for your first mini magic show.

These are tricks that you WILL use.

Aug 10, 2010, Building Kid's Self Confidence with KITE

I'm very proud to be working with KITE for the next three months. I have been contracted as an Artist/Teacher with Magic and Illusion as my area of specialty. The program culminates with a performance at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

I have never officially had the teacher'tag' so I'll wear it with pride as long as I can.

KITE Arts Education Program @ QPAC developed the Yonder Project to address the needs of students experiencing some of the highest rates of social exclusion in the State. The pilot project was delivered in 2007-08 and involved six schools.

KITE teacher artists worked in classrooms with principals, teachers, students and guest artists to collaboratively develop theatre performances exploring issues of interest to their community. The creative development processes culminated in performances in which students explored complex ideas and expressed their understandings through performance to their family and school community.

I feel this is very important work as most of these kids and their families will have probably never attended a theatre performance, let alone performed in one ... but then again, neither have I (in the true sense).

I'll keep you posted.

Aug 4, 2010, Julian's new Dental Awareness show

I'm really excited to be launching the Happy Teeth show. This is a Dental Awareness show for Kindy, Prep, C&K and Childcare Centres. I present this show with Dr. Michael Cooke, who I've got to say is about the best dentist in Brisbane.

We have been presenting this show for about 4 years but have kept it quiet to a select group of Brisbane C&K's. The messages promoted are so well received that we feel it is time is get the message out to more children.

You'll see more on this soon. Happy brushing!

Jul 25, 2010, Library Magic Show Feedback

Hi all,

This post will really only affect those of you who are interested in my educational shows. This is the feedback just in from the last school holiday library program.

Stones Corner.. Very much enjoyed by all

Annerley.. A great performance – the kids loved it.

Garden City.. It was good. Kids enjoyed it. Interactive. Julian stayed back and talked to parents, etc.

Mt. Gravatt.. Very good show – kids and adults both enjoyed it – good interaction with the children and the sign promoting the magic show in the library was a novelty for the children. He entertained the children waiting for the start of the show with juggling tricks. His promotion of the library was also good.

Mitchelton.. Excellent pantomime. Positive feedback.

Hamilton.. Fabulous really knew how to work the room and promote books. Loved by all ages, started entertaining the early arrivals waiting as well. Loved by all ages, lots of comments.

New Farm.. The show was excellent - the chap even tidied up our cushions etc. We would be happy to have him again - we could hear the kids squeals in the library and the performance was in the meeting room (note: the meeting room is not attached to the library and is some distance away)

Jul 20, 2010, Win a FREE magic show update

Julian is now giving away 2 FREE magic shows each year. All you have to be in the running to win one is see one of Julian's shows, write a quick review, add a photo if you have one and hit the submit button.

Many people have written me testimonials and I'm very appreciative of these so I thought why not give something back to say thankyou.

Plus I've been able to do it so your review and photos become your very own webpage dedicated to YOUR party. Your family and friends can even leave comments and it's all easily linked to your FaceBook etc.

Good luck!

Apr 21, 2010, Added bonus for Secret Agent Show

When parents book my Secret Agent Show they receive a password to get them into the Secret Agent Name Generator. As the kids arrive for the party they find out their funny code name for the show. The kids get very excited announcing their new name and instructing the new arrivals on how to get theirs. 30 minutes that you don't even have to lift a finger to keep the kids entertained.

Apr 15, 2010, Julian's Magic Book - a Sugar Free alternative to party bags

Here's a great idea I'm really proud of: Not all parents want party bags. For those who don't I have written a child friendly book of tricks called The Little RED Book of Magic. It's suitable for 7yr olds and older. These are already proving popular.

Mar 29, 2010, New SECRET AGENT show for 8-12 yr olds

8 to 12 yr olds are SMART kids. Not yet mature enough to get the humour of adult shows but no longer little kids.

This new show is tailor made for them so it's all about the TRICKS. That's what they want at this age. They want to be able to try and catch me out. So this show is packed full of my really sneaky stuff, my really difficult sleight of hand routines. 8 to 12 year olds LOVE this stuff.

The show is based around the a story I have named THE CASE OF THE MISSING SECRETS. The kids get to role play the parts of the villians as they try to out smart me.

I am looking forward enormously to doing these.
