A Stage Illusion Magician Has to Carry Much More Than a Deck of Cards
That's just one of things you need to think about before starting out as an "Illusionist".
Being a Stage Illusion Magician, or Illusionist as they are known in the magic world, can earn you a lot of fame and a lot of money BUT you also have a lot more to worry about than other types of magicians. Things like where can I park the huge truck that carries all my Illusions, I hope my tigers haven't escaped again and I hope I'm not having a bad hair day.
Many Illusionists started out by getting a magic book from their school library. They likely joined a magic club and I'm betting their first shows were pretty small, a long way from the spectacular shows like you find every night of the week in Las Vegas.
I'm sure what good Illusion magicians share in common - apart from being skillful magicians - is they dreamed big things. Dreaming big is one thing but making that dream turn real is another. Good Illusionists LINK also know how to put a plan into action LINK, which is just as important as knowing how to do a good trick.
An Illusionist can make a lot of money but it also takes a lot of money to set yourself up as one. Those big illusions cost many thousands of dollars to build. But get this, you can LINK make your own illusions LINK with nothing more than a sharp knife, a roll of tape and a big cardboard box.
Here's what Stage Illusions can look like...
And as you can see by this next one illusionists are pretty keen on sawing things in half...
