I hope you've been enjoying this series on magic tricks for kids. So far you've collected a few mini routines. Soon I'll show you how to string some of those together into a magic show.
For the moment let's learn another mini routine. This one is based around the idea of escapology, one of magic's more unusual areas. Like money tricks, audiences respond well to the idea of being able to escape, that if you had super human powers then nothing could ever restrain you.
It's been my experience that audiences also like it when you mention Harry Houdini who was probably the greatest escape artist of all time. So with that in mind this trick has an escapology flavour about it.You'll read in some of the tricks a bit later how I encourage you to make stories for your routines. You can do that here just by doing a bit of a Google search for escapology and finding some quirky bit of information. Just having something as simple as that can bring your magic tricks to life.
Don't, however, make the mistake of BORING everyone to death with a long winded story. People go to the library for long stories, not magic shows.
That reminds me of a funny idea for starting any magic trick you like. Put a concerned look on your face and say, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I warn you, this is the most dangerous trick I do." The put a big smile on your face and say, "Seriously, some people have died of boredom during this trick." Just remember the Big SMILE for the second line and it'll work well.
And remember, Julian says NEVER quit.
